18 Common Reasons For Poor Search Engine Ranking
Reasons 4 - 6
Reason 4: You have submitted your web site too often
If you submit your web site more often than once a day, some search
engines will consider that spamming and they will ignore your site.
Spamming does not work with search engines. Most of the time, it will
backfire on you. More and more search engines are able to detect spamming
attempts and penalize or ban your pages from their listings.
You should submit your web site to the search engines and wait for about
3-4 weeks. Then search for the URL of your site. If the search engine cannot
find your site, submit your URL again.
Reason 5: Too many repeated keywords on your page
Do not repeat your keywords too often in your meta tags or in the body
text of your web pages. Some years ago, you may have obtained a top ranking
by filling your web page with the same keywords over and over again, but
today the search engines will quickly ignore such technique and probably
write it off as "spamming". It could even cause the search engine to ban web
site completely.
Unfortunately, search engines do not indicate on their help pages the
maximum allowed number of repetitions. The safest way is to look up those
sites that are listed in the top 10 position of your keywords and try to
keep as close to their keyword density as possible.
Reason 6: Text in the same color as the background of the page
Some webmasters, in their attempt to get high rankings in the search
engines, try to make their web pages as keyword-rich as possible. They try
to spam search engines by setting those repeating keywords as the same color
as the background color to make the text visible only to search engine
spiders but not human visitors.
However, almost all search engines already know that trick. They will
penalize or even blacklist your page if they determine that you are trying
to unfairly misrepresent its actual content. This tactic is commonly
referred to as "hidden text" or "invisible text".
And, by the way, search engines also look out for pages using a slightly
different text color than the background color to hide words, so don't use
that trick.
